A Study on the Effects of Exercise on Side Effects From Treatment for Gastrointestinal Cancers

What Participation Looks Like

This study is primarily virtual and home-based with little to no need for additional clinic visits. Participation is designed to feel manageable and provide support alongside the care of your oncology team.

Participation may include:

  • An aerobic activity plan centered around treadmill walking, tailored to your needs.
  • Regular check-ins with your trainer and research team.

Participants may also receive:

  • Activity-tracking technology
  • Exercise equipment to support physical activity at home
  • At-home assessments to measure heart health and body composition, including fat, muscle, and bone mass

Who Can Take Part

You may be eligible for the TNT study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Are 18 or older
  • Havenot yetcompleted surgery for gastrointestinal cancer
  • Plan to begin (or have recently started) chemotherapy for gastrointestinal cancer
  • Can walk unassisted
  • Meet the study’s medical guidelines

Participation is entirely voluntary. Outcomes are not guaranteed.
